Cedric EretThe fight inside is breaking me again Still the same, pursuing pain Is it worth all I have gained? We both know how this will end, but I do it again.
"Kiaraa," the man mused, "Kiaraa of Taurë Menel" He sighed, running a hand through his dark hair. "It is her fault I am worse.." Be silent Cedric, remember why you came here! The voice nagged, scolding him as if he were a child. He pressed his rough palms into his face in frustration. Why was he here again? Rhiannon.. something about... "Argh!," he cried out in frustration, rising to his feet as he heard the rhythmic thudding of hoofbeats.
"I trust you had a well enough day Nasic," he mumured, stroking the Friesian. To others the stallion looked like some kind of hell-horse. He was massive, a very deep black, long mane and tail that was all black just as his body save the ends of his mane and tail. They started black, slowly turning to a dark reddish color at the tips. One could even tell from a distance the colors of his mane, and they associated him with death because of the black and blood for the red of his mane. An appropriate choice for the mount of an assassin if it were not for his being a gentle giant. His one downfall.
He is a horse Cedric, he can't have 'well enough days'. The man ignored the voice, moving over to a large mound of rocks. Water flowed and slipped over the jagged rocks, and into the stream. The man looked up, eyes scanning the milky white hue of the snow covered plains. How was the water not frozen? Taking his flask, he filled it, and then strapped it back onto the saddle along with his other possessions. He bent back over the rock, palm pressing on the stone. He pulled back, shocked by the temperature. It was hot. Brows furrowed, he dabbled his fingers in the water, finding that unusually warm as well.
A low growl rumbled from inside the stones somewhere, and instantly, Cedric lept backwards, sword drawn. Gray eyes studied the rocks wildly, muscles tense, breathing quickened slightly. Cedric! Calm yourself, it's only your stomach. Haven't you eaten yet today? "It's an animal," he groaned, staring at the rock, waiting for the creature to leap out at him, and maul him to death. Not a pleasant death. Or, it could all be in your head. You are a little insane Ceddy. Sighing, he sheathed his sword, and turned to face the great, black stallion. "What?" He asked, hands outstretched as if the equine had accused him of stealing the last cookie from the jar. The black beast merely snorted, shook himself off, and shifted boredly. "I am not crazy."
He hadn't always been that way- crazy. It was something that had slowly crept up on him, like a diesease. One that claimed another part of him the longer he let it go unhealed. Soon, it would consume him completely, and he would be lost. Then again, anything's possible, right? He used to have the intelligence needed to be a monarch. Then, he could have easily ruled. Now, things looked dark and gloomy for his future. You lousy cut-throat, stop your pondering and let's move! You have to remember why you're here. Look in the saddlebag. I'm sure she gave you a letter before you left. She knows how your mind is.. deteriorating. Cedric did as the voice asked, and sure enough, there was the letter, wax seal and all. Cedric fingered the seal absentmindedly, sighing quietly. Open it stupid! Ignoring the voice, he shoved the letter back in the bag. "Rhiannon can wait. Her tasks are nothing but tom foolery." The voice sighed, mumbling something Cedric was sure it was an insult. Fine, just hold your tongue and think before you are about to say 'tom foolery' again. You really irritate me sometimes. Cedric ignored the voice, and began to re-check the leather straps holding the saddle around Nasic's middle.

------------ A hot burst of air shot from her body, and she gasped as it slammed into the nearby objects. Mostly the grass suffered, it was now burnt and scorched, singed to a crisp within about thirty feet of her feet. Looking down with wide eyes, she gulped, then inhaled slowly, letting the oxygen fill her lungs, before the half-breed then spun, hands out slightly, and the grass around her began to regrow, turning green once more. Stumbling slightly as she did so, she giggled, though tensed as a snort was heard nearby. Frowning, elven senses picking it up, she noticed it was Hevlena, her mare she'd taken from a stable a few weeks ago. The mare was a gorgeous Andalusian-style horse, and she bonded with the girl decently, though she still wanted to return home. Therefore, she was now tied to a tree, a safe distance away from the burning, singed air around the young blonde. Grinning, she murmured, "I'm not going to hurt you." as she gently stroked the mare's white man, adjusting her white dress, covered over with a deep red cloak to fight off the chilly atmosphere. Checking on the horse's blanket underneath her saddle, she nodded solemnly.
"You're just fine." she mused, before the horse nickered, and the half-elf, half-human untied her reins, and hopped up onto her back. The horse shifted gently underneath the young woman's weight. Well - in appearance. In reality, she was about a fourth of her actual age in appearance-wise. Being 80-something and looking as she did came in handy. Especially when she was looking for her half-sister, whom she knew was out there somewhere, she just had to find her first. Though, with all the obstacles she'd been hitting lately, she'd be surprised if she ever did. Delicate fingers lightly traced over a necklace her biological father, Randar had given her as an infant. Her thoughts reared as the slavers appeared in her mind, and she yelped, clinging her mass of blonde hair as Hevlena snorted in distress. Memories clouded her vision, as he beat her, before dragging her to his bed. Suddenly, the air around them began to drop even more in temperature, even though the blonde wasn't affected, plant life and Hevlena were.
The mare whinnied shrilly, warning her rider of her pain. Immediately ceasing it through her vision, she urged the mare to continue walking as she let the vision swarm her head like a thousand bees. "I still worry...if anyone has found out." she thought to herself, as soon as her "Master" returned, then dragged her to his bed, then the next morning beating her senseless. Shivering, she opened her eyes as Hevlena paused near a running creek. How strange, at least she hadn't made it freeze earlier. Travelling along the river bank, the duo remained silent, while the mare's hooves clomped along the frozen ground beneath the layers of snow. The mare's ears flicked forwards, as down stream slightly, the hybrid heard someone say they weren't crazy. She mused silently to herself, "We're all crazy sometimes in a sane world." Thinking this to herself, she pressed on, and as they neared, she realized there was a man, with quite a large black stallion, checking the leather straps on its saddle.
Immeidately, Hevlena backed away shyly, her shy personality shining through. Nerves bundled up, as her blue eyes scanned over the man quietly, and she murmured softly, her fear shining through slightly. Would he do anything? Would he try and harm her or Hevlena? Shivering silently under her cloak, a hand rested silently on the hilt of her sword she'd managed to steal, before speaking, calmly, "I am sorry for disturbing you...but do you know if there is a town nearby?" She knew in the general direction where they was one, but if this guy knew, then she'd have to trust him....

Cedric EretThe fight inside is breaking me again Still the same, pursuing pain Is it worth all I have gained? We both know how this will end, but I do it again.
"I am sorry for disturbing you...but do you know if there is a town nearby?" Muscles froze instantly, trying to place the voice, but he didn't know who it was. Slowly, Cedric looked up, lips pressed in a firm line. She's not Kiaraa.. Brilliant observation. "Be quiet," Cedric muttered, forgetting he wasn't alone. "Oh- Ah, not you m'lady.." M'lady? The voice snickered. "I was merely speaking to Nasic here," he smiled, patting the friesian who gave him a slightly annoyed look.
Gah, Cedric and his silly mind. What had she asked him? Something about a town.. Try and keep up dear Ceddy. "The closest town is quite far from here." What was that town? Really, I think you'd know by now. How many times have you thought of it? Well over a hundred, but hey, what do I know.. I'm just your mind! "Iolden is the one nearest here." He paused for a moment, letting his hand drop from Nasic's flank. "At least, I am quite sure it is.. I-" Dear, you're babbling. Be quiet for a minute and let the poor woman think! Cedric had to bite his tongue to keep from replying out loud. He was so used to be alone, and not having to hold his tongue. Stupid voice.
Nasic shifted, blowing air quietly through his nostrils. It was clear he was bored, and this upset the voice as well as the man. Can we go? I think she can find the way on her own. It's dangerous country.. Look at her. Does she look like she has bulging arms and rippling muscles? No, the voice admitted, Cedric calmly running a hand through his dark hair as he listened. The stallion pushed his nose into his master's back before turning back and lowering his head to graze.
"Forgive me for drifting off.. I have much on my mind." Cedric winced slightly. Same excuse you used for that elf woman, whatever the devil her name was. Stupid elf-woman. The voice complained, sighing. Kiaraa, Cedric offered, but the voice merely sighed even louder. "Would you like an escort? I am already traveling that way, and I would not leave a lady to suffer the dangers of these lands." He gave a friendly smile, arms dangling uselessly at his sides. As soon as the thought crossed his mind, he moved his fingers a bit, irritated by the stillness. It wasn't normal for everything to be still anymore. Ever since the 'stupid elf woman', as the voice called her, left that morning, Cedric had not been able to keep himself straight. Her leaving had also covered his intelligence more, and brought the voice out, making it much, much more prominent than before. Now he could actually talk to the thing.
Hurry up and answer lady! I want to get this stupid assassin, cut-throat, army man of mine out of here. He has work to do. Unknowingly, Cedric frowned, hands grasping his thighs for a moment. That is a bit possessive don't you think? The voice snorted as if his question didn't even deserve a response. By the heavens I need an ale. Stop saying foolish things like that! You'll never find yourself a wife. What are you talking about? I already have someone to nag me. Cedric was smiling again, but this time it wasn't being polite to the woman, it was the insult to the voice. The voice laughed mockingly, remaining silent. Maybe now he could finally speak with this woman. "Cedric Eret by the way," he said, smile now mostly for the woman, and the rest was smugness. Cedric didn't offer his hand as she would probably flinch away. How much of his 'insanity' had shown? Hopefully he wouldn't scare her off.

------------ Hevlena shifted beneath her, before the blonde perked though frowned slightly when he hushed someone. Eyes looked over at him with worry, though she soon wiped that look from her face, as the mare beneath her snorted heavily, and tossed her dial, flipping her mane up in the air as she spoke in horse-speak - obviously to the other horse with this man. When he corrected himself, she tossed her leg over and slid off the white mare as he mentioned he'd been speaking to, Nasic. Glancing to his horse quietly, she nodded solemnly, "Ah, but of course." she allowed an almost playful grin to spread itself along her features. Though, it immediately faded when the man mentioned the closest town was actually far away. Doubt nagged at her, though she couldn't help it, and nodded softly, sighing gently, "Ah, thank you." she'd been hoping something would be close, but of course with her luck, what would go good for her?
Though, she did manage to get Hevlena, but that was just because she'd managed to start a thuderstorm by bringing the clouds closer over the mountains and freaking the horses out into the pasture and making her pick. The mare snorted, audits flicking to the blonde's attention as she tugged lightly on the reins, letting her know to behave. When he started speaking again, her worries mounted, never trust a male. Males were - deceiving, kniving creatures, and this man was no different. Narrowing her eyes as if attempting to burn a hole through him - which she could probably do, the teen paused, then replied, brushing back some of her hair, "Thanks, but Iolden, was it?" she was just checking - a thing she tended to do, especially back when she was like in her 50s, she'd double check with her master to make sure she'd get the right chores done how he wanted them to be done.
"Oh, of course." She murmured, forgiving him. She couldn't blame him. No fingers would be pointing from her body if she could help it. Men could not be blamed for things they had been put through, but neither could she, or other women. This man though, was most likely planning something. At this thought, she gulped, and soon, the air around them began to chill dangerously low, even lower than before. Course, she hardly felt the effects, but Hevlena, and this guy would most likely. Shivering, Hevlena snorted towards the blonde, as if knocking her out of her trance. Her trance to protect herself. Looking around innocently, she shivered herself, putting on the usual act, "Getting chilly out here when you're not moving." She murmured, hoping, knowing most likely he'd probably buy it. Guys usually did. The moment he offered to be her escort, her mind shouted, "NO!" but her heart said yes. Her stomach, her gut instinct said no, to be wary of him and move on, but without thinking, she responded, "Fine with me."
Patting Hevlena's soft neck, she looked to the Andalusian mare, who gave her an agitated look, as if telling her if something happened, she'd hardly be able to help. The half-breed murmured softly, as she shifted the leather, covering her words - hopefully, "Don't worry yourself over, Helvena...I need to conquer my fear sooner or later." Turning as she felt him move, she half-expected him to be approaching her, therefore, her hand went to the canteen on her right hip, which held her fighting water, while the one on her left held her drinking water. The right was just in case she didn't want to draw it from the air, and there was no stream like now, nearby. As he straightened, mentioning nagging, her eyes widened slightly, and an eyebrow arched quietly, silently asking what was going on. Should she still turn down his offer? But she'd already accepted it.
Cursing herself, she looked from the saddle as she checked her potions when she was given his name. Cedric Eret. Placing his name with his face, she nodded softly, smiling weakly back to him, immediately labeling him as someone she hoped she wouldn't have to spend too much time with. At least she could still protect herself. But he didn't know that, and she didn't plan on letting him know that either. Deciding she could give him her name, knowing he'd most likely not know her, unless the slavers had placed her poster up with Grena's somewhere he'd been. She'd managed to convince them she was dead by now, but their sons heard of the half-elf and wanted her for themselves. Shaking this thought away, she responded, "Elwing Hanov, Elle if you wish, Cedric." she grinned softly, as she brushed her hair back, revealing her pointed ears.
Shifting gently, she hopped up onto Hevlena's saddle, easier than her for most as she "stepped" onto the air to get up there. Adjusting herself to get comfortable, she locked her attention on Cedric, not trusting him one bit. This could be a deathly mistake, but she was curious as to what more she could learn about him. Tilting her head, she inquired, "A man, alone in the woods with his Friesian, if you don't mind me asking, what brings you out here?" she offered a weak smile, as Hevlena stepped over the running creek, while her attention remained near on Cedric, knowing at any moment, he could pull an arrow or sword on her.

Cedric EretThe fight inside is breaking me again Still the same, pursuing pain Is it worth all I have gained? We both know how this will end, but I do it again.
"Thanks, but Iolden, was it?" "Aye," he said giving a quick nod. Aye, the voice mocked, snickering. "Oh, of course." Cedric's brows furrowed as he felt the temperature drop, grey-blue eyes moving about, as if he would find the answer out in the open space. It's probably a northern wind or something. There was no wind.. What else would it be? It is winter. The voice sighed loudly, and Cedric's face relaxed. "Getting chilly out here when you're not moving." "I- I suppose.." Cedric frowned slightly, nodding slowly to himself as she spoke again. "Fine with me." Argh! Please! We don't need anyone else traveling with us! Quit whining, or I swear I shall give you a name you will hate. Fine, it muttered.
His eyes went to the female again, watching as a single eyebrow raised, and eyes widened slightly. See the trouble you get me into? "I was merely speaking to the horse." At least I keep you sane. You.. keep me sane? Yes. I think it's quite the opposite. You're the one who defines me as insane. Brilliant excuse. Now let's get moving. It's not good to stand around chatting out in the freezing cold. Alright, but one question. Yes, fine. What? What's the Elvish word for 'mother'? Well, it's 'naneth', but I don't see the revelence of- Oh no. No! Cedric fought back a grin.
"Elwing Hanov, Elle if you wish, Cedric." "I believe I'll just go with Elwing. No need to have bad manners out in the wilderness." Argh! No, you must be joking! She's an ELF! The voice, now Naneth, shrieked in fury. This is exactly the kind of being, creature, person, thing that has brought us nothing but trouble! Cedric sighed, swinging himself onto Nasic's broad back. She isn't Kiaraa. Anyway, we will not be in her company long.
"A man, alone in the woods with his Friesian, if you don't mind me asking, what brings you out here?" Cedric's gaze flickered over to Elwing. "Work," he said, frowning slightly. Work, eh? Clever.. Quiet and let me think will you! "I'm a soldier." He scratched his chin, grasping the reins in his other hand. Dropping his lifted hand to his side, the hilt of his sword brushed his skin. She probably has a weapon too Cedric. Watch out for her. Stop being prejudice. You were calling her weak a moment ago when you didn't know she was an elf.
"I'm just on a mission. Trying to find someone who was taken captive, a spy, very important to the army." Interesting, you're a better liar than I thought Ceddy dear. The man ignored it, and gently nudged the big stallion in the sides with his heels, directing him around a cluster of rocks. "We may have to ride quickly if you wish to remain with us." Us? "Nasic and I." What would you do without me? Cedric sighed, grip loosening on the reins as 'Naneth' spoke. Well, for one; I would be sane. Two; I would most likely be married and a have a child by now. So, if you don't mind, you can leave now. Can't do that Ceddy. I'm here until she's finished with you. She? Eh- no one. Who? The voice didn't answer, Cedric's form slumping a bit before he straightened himself. Maybe he wasn't truly insane after all.. and he was simply being used.

ELWING HANOV I CAN DO BETTER, JUST TELL ME WHAT I NEED TO DO TO MAKE YOU HAPPY TO CALL ME A FRIEND. TO CALL ME A DAUGHTER. TO CALL ME YOUR LOVER. I WILL DO ANYTHING TO LET YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE HERE TONIGHT.
------------ He reaffirmed the name of the town, and she tucked it into the back of her mind for later use. It'd probably come in handy throughout her running, ahem, travels. As far as everyone else was concerned, she was just trying to stay out of the war as much as possible. Granted, her half-sister whom she knew was full elven would most likely be on the elven side. But she? She couldn't decide what to do, either between the humans or elves. Honestly, she just wanted the whole ordeal over with. Once that was settled, maybe she could finally find Bliss, her sister again. If she could find her sister, then maybe their family - half her family could be reunited. Did she ever blame Randar, her biological father? Sometimes, but usually, she didn't. He had fallen in love with Helena, her mother, and when Helena vanished, she shivered silently. Well, Hevlena didn't disappear, technically Elwing had, but that was because Yunra had taken her away. Then - her life had gone downhill from there. Shaking those memories off, she then looked back to Cedric, still not fully trusting him at all.
When he spoke he'd been talking to Nasic, he hestiated silently. Shifting in her leather saddle, the blonde looked back to Cedric silently as he then got up onto his own horse. Eying him silently, as if seeing him for the first time. Blue eyes narrowed slightly, as a wind brushed through the trees quietly, Hevlena snorting as the wind tickled his nose with a leaf that managed to brush against it. The mare swiveled her head back towards the Friesian horse. She tensed as he spoke, saying he'd call her Elwing instead. Pausing slightly, she nodded softly, before responding, "All right, Cedric." Listening as he mentioned about him being out here for work, she opened her mouth to inquire what field, or area of work he was in, when he mentioned a soldier. Immediately, eyes scoured over him, looking for weapons.
If he had weapons, she figured she could probably shove him away with rocks or something. Or maybe burn him. No, she couldn't acess that part of her ability. Lips pursed silently, before he mentioned a spy. Spy, for who? Curious, she inquired, eyes watching him, "Which side?" she eyed him silently. If there was someone caught who was an elf, it could be her sister. Though, she didn't express this, instead letting Cedric answer, as her curiosity peaked. Elwing reached down and patted Hevlena quietly, as the mare picked up her speed to match it with Nasic's, who was a few feet to her left. Glancing up, she noticed the sun was setting. Scowling slightly in its direction, too bad she couldn't control the sun or lunar powers. Inhaling slowly, her eyes glazed over for a moment, as clouds soon spun slowly of course, so it wouldn't seem odd, along the horizon. Grinning innocently to herself, she peered to the sky thorugh the trees, then back to the person accompanying her.
He slouched then straightened himself suddenly, the blonde stiffened, her muscles wiring for a fight, as she felt her right palm coat itself in ice. Quickly jerking it off the reins before it froze there, she hissed quietly to herself, knowing Cedric probably didn't hear that, as she managed to defrost her hand within a few moments of it off to the side where he couldn't see it. Glancing his way, the hybrid ran a hand through her blonde hair quietly, before she then spoke, gesturing towards the dying sunlight, "We'll probably have to stop for the night. As you said, these are dangerous lands, won't do ourselves any good travelling at night as well." giving him a side-long glance, she paused in a clearing, while Hevlena pawed at some snow before reaching the grass. Tying the mare's reins to a small tree's branch, she cooed softly to her, then kicked some sticks into the small clearing, though remained near, ready to ride with Cedric if he decided they should continue on for a bit or not.

Cedric EretThe fight inside is breaking me again Still the same, pursuing pain Is it worth all I have gained? We both know how this will end, but I do it again.
"Which side?" Oh, lucky you. Look what you get to answer. Don't look to me for help, because I haven't the slightest idea what you should say. Obviously you can't tell her you work for.. uhm, well, her. You know who. I don't want to say her name. Makes me flinch every time. Cedric raised a brow, gripping the reins tightly in annoyance. I know you don't really think that, so just help, alright? The voice sighed loudly. You can't lie to her though. It's not you. They're from our side, but.. our side probably isn't her side.. so say, our side. She will probably keep asking questions. Stupid elf woman thing.. Why can't I lie to her? Because I know you, and you can't do it. You'll end up crying like a female, and she'll find you out for sure. So? So, she could report you to... whoever is running Anorith these days. It's more of a democracy now, isn't it? How silly. I mean, one of these days they're bound to screw up and get a new leader. Not like our Rhiannon though. Our? Yours Naneth, not mine. "The captive is from our side," Cedric finally muttered, eyes focused straight ahead.
Bravo, finally found the courage to speak? My head is already starting to ache. When don't you have a headache? When you're quiet. I've been quiet before? No, Cedric groaned in his mind, the voice howling with laughter. His grey-blue eyes shifted to Elwing, noticing her tense movement. He didn't bother asking what was wrong, merely looking away again. It wasn't his business to worry about her.. eh, emotions. There were too many of his own to try and sort out. If only the voice would leave him be, he could finally find some peace. Be patient! When she's done with you, you'll be free! Who? Honestly, I'm sure you know.. you just don't want to believe it. Rhiannon? Finally! Some clarity in your mixed mind! I'm actually quite stunned you didn't figure it out before now. Silly Cedric.
"We'll probably have to stop for the night. As you said, these are dangerous lands, won't do ourselves any good travelling at night as well." "Hmm?" Cedric's head turned sharply in her direction, pain shooting through his neck. Wincing, he placed a hand on the spot, rubbing gently. "Agreed," he mumbled, dismounting. He ran his hand along Nasic's neck, removing the saddle, but leaving the bridle around his thick head. Cedric smiled, stroking the horse's nose. "Do you have a covering for the night?" His eyes remained on the stallion's face, admiring the dark beauty of the equine. "A blanket or something of the sort? It's getting colder," he said, eyes glancing up at the darkening sky.
Who cares if she's cold? She probably has something, otherwise she wouldn't have made it long on her own out here. Without that 'magic' cloak Rhiannon gave you, you'd most likely freeze to death. The voice snikered. I doubt it. It's not that cold out yet. Yes it is. How would you know? You can't even feel. You have no body. How would you know? It mocked. The voice laughed again, making Cedric sigh, running his hand across the stallion's face more roughly, though the horse didn't seem to mind.

------------ The silence around the duo remained tense, and she too, remained tense, as if ready for action. Crystal-blue eyes glanced his way, before looking up to the darkening sky, the night inimate now. Lips opened in a gentle smile at this thought, water, the tides were influenced by the moon, and it calmed her to think she too was a part of it. Nibbling her bottom lip, running a hand through her blonde hair as he responded, "our side." That helped her by about - nothing. How could it have? Their side, her side, his side. Which side? She was intent on finding out, but obviously he either couldn't tell her, or wouldn't. Hesitating in pressing on the matter, something told her not to. Lips tightened into a smaller line, though she didn't dare voice her concern or queries. Shifting silently on Hevlena, uncomfortably, she glanced his way once more, as if checking to make sure he wasn't doing anything, or wasn't planning anything.
He jerked his head her way, and she noticed him cringe, then rub his neck. Making a note of that, she murmured softly, dismounting from the saddle, "I could help with that if you want." he offered a soft grin in his direction, before she unhooked two blankets she'd grabbed from a store awhile ago, Hevlena already had one on, and one was in emergencies, and the other to wrap herself up in. At his question, she held it up silently, not feeling the need to speak all of a sudden. Tying her hair back with a leather tie, she patted Hevlena silently, who nibbled on grass beneath her hooves, while Elwing gathered up sticks and placed them in the center of the clearing. The clearing was large enough, so she could sleep away from Cedric and still feel safe. Looking up as the sky darkened, she frowned, glad the sun had coated the world in a layer of warmth before it died out for the night, before it died out for the night.
Wrapping her blanket around her, she reached for her piece of flint, an excuse not to use her fire. Eyes focused as she striked it against the other piece. Sparks flew, and soon, a small fire was going. "Something's troubling you..." she murmured, as she nurtured the small flame, which was now growing larger as it consumed the sticks and twigs she'd gathered for it. Lifting her focus onto Cedric, Elwing smiled weakly, tucking her flint away, feeling her hands grow warm. Curling herself into her blanket more, enjoying the secure sensation she always receieved when she did this. Sitting down opposite of Cedric, she heard Hevlena's patient, soothing breathing, as well as her own in her ears, though her attention never went far from Cedric, "Are you hungry?" she reached for her bag, and produced an apple, two carrots and a loaf of bread, offering some of it to him.

Cedric EretThe fight inside is breaking me again Still the same, pursuing pain Is it worth all I have gained? We both know how this will end, but I do it again.
"I could help with that if you want." Cedric looked at her, shaking his head, hand still around the back of his neck. "No, I'll be fine." A small smile flickered across his lips as he watched Elwing lift the blankets in the air, nodding slowly to avoid further pain. He continued to watch until she pulled her hair up, eyes closing tightly. Why are you afraid of women anyway? I'm not. You are. Who can hear your thoughts? Oh, that would be me. Cedric rolled his eyes as he looked down at the ground, crouching, brushing snow around until there was only a thin layer left, the rest like a fortress wall around the area. The man turned around, sitting down heavily in the area, gathering his cloak around him.
Nasic turned his head, glancing at the mare he had barely noticed before. He offered a quiet nicker before turning away to nose at the snow and graze on what green foiliage he could find. "Something's troubling you..." Cedric's head raised slowly, hood falling back from his head. Oh dear.. she's onto you Ceddy, love! Be silent Naneth, I'm getting tired of you. That's it? Not sick or angry with me? I'm both, I'm just too polite to say it. Liar, the voice muttered. Cedric shook his head, shifting uncomfortably. "Nothing's bothering me. I'm just thinking.. planning." He watched in silence as she worked up a fire, his grey-blue eyes empty of any emotion.
"Are you hungry?" Again, he shook his head. Answer her. It's not like she's going to be looking at you! "No," he mumbled quietly, ignoring the voice to some extent, but still obeying. It had kept him alive so far, and maybe he should try to suck it up and listen. It wasn't going to kill him. Or at least, not yet. "I've eaten already today. Rationed my food." He stared at the offered food before his gaze moved to Nasic. "Do you know how to tell someone is a liar?" Cedric's eyes focoused on her, unsmiling. "They tend to speak less. They think if there's less to believe, the easier it will be to trick people." Idiot. She might take that as a clue. You do know that, yes? What? You are doing that very same thing you just said. Am I? Well, it doesn't matter to me. She can believe what she likes. You're acting like a woman. Think what you will.
Laying back onto the snowy ground, Cedric put his arms behind his head, staring up at the dark sky, remaining away from the fire. He wouldn't need the heat. Rhiannon's cloak was enough. More than enough. Can't you leave me alone for one night?! I'm loosing my mind to your.. whatever the hell it is you do! It remained quiet in Cedric's mind, and he let his eyes close, enjoying the brief peace that was sure to end.

------------ Inclining her head at his statement in a silent understanding, the hybrid brushed her hair in front of her elven-pointed ears. Was it because of that? She surely hoped not, and she was too far involved now to try and get out of it until at least tomorrow, she presumed. If tomorrow ever came. No, of course it would, as her logical side kicked in. If this man, Cedric tried anything, her "defense" will activate. She'd probably fry him to death with fire, or drown him in mid-step, but she'd like not to do that, but if he did something, then she most likely would. Watching the fire roar more to life, she lifted her hand, her powers activating as she pulled the fire to be larger, therefore illuminating the whole clearing, keeping away the chilliness of the nighttime air. Exhaling, her breath came out in a large puff of air, and she grinned at it. That had always amused her, and still did, how you could see her breath for a few moments before it faded from their vision.
Elwing's vision clouded as the familiarness of drowsiness overwhlemed her for a moment, and felt as if she'd blacked out for a moment. She probably had. He declined her food, and she tucked it away, nibbling on a little piece of bread, training her body to go on little bits of food every day or so. Fingers brushed against the blanket she was wrapped up in, the blanket filled with goose down feathers (never harmed the animal of course, when they were shedded), and then fur-lined, perfect for cuddling in the middle of the chilly night into her "coccoon" as she called it. Smiling silently at the joke, as she peered across the fire to Cedric, listening at his interesting choice of words. Curiously eying him, she responded, "I, for one, am still practicing, my sister can easily though." this much she knew from bits and pieces of people she'd met who had known her sister. Her half-sister, anyway, and her empathy. The thought of seeing her half-sister made energy course through her veins, keeping her slightly more awake than she had before, but sleep was consuming her mind and body.
Lying down, though still listening, she lifted her head, brushing back the hair from her face as he spoke about not speaking. A brow arched curiously, though she kept that in mind, and lied back down, following him. As the dream world entered her thoughts, she knew immediately she wouldn't be sleeping very good tonight. As nightmares of her old Master hunting her successfully and finding her, Elwing tossed and turned, whimpering in her sleep. The fire was about half-as large as it had been before, and Hevlena, the mare nickered softly towards the others, Cedric and Nasic, hoping to awaken one of them, especially Cedric, since she could do nothing to calm down Elwing's nightmares like she usually could. Elwing yelped suddenly, waking herself up. Wide-eyed, she crawled in the snow with the covering up against a tree, panting, covered in a thin layer of sweat, hoping she hadn't awakened anyone, as she remained there.
He'd found her. He'd harmed Cedric, whom she hoped hadn't done anything. As she noticed the fire dying, offering it some more twigs, the hybrid then raised her hand, and as she did so, the fire grew with her movement as well. Sparks danced along her hand as she did so. Immediately ceasing this, she curled back up, inhaling slowly. That life was over now. She wouldn't respond to anyone if she didn't want to, and wouldn't bend to anyone anymore. Determination set it, though she curled up, and wiped away a few stray tears that danced down her cheeks, glittering in the fire light.

Cedric EretThe fight inside is breaking me again Still the same, pursuing pain Is it worth all I have gained? We both know how this will end, but I do it again.
"I, for one, am still practicing, my sister can easily though." The words barely reached the man, his body already limp with the relief of sleep. Rarely did the voice cease its attacks on his mind, and this was an opportunity that was not to be wasted. Sleep Ceddy, that's it. You didn't think you'd hear from me again until morning, correct? Well, you're horribly wrong. At the first syllable of 'sleep', a loud groan escaped the man, his eyes closing tighter in protest, but he remembered there was... no escaping the voice. Get up! "Fine, just be quiet for once!" Keep your thoughts to us only Ceddy.
"Silence and you may keep your life," a low voice growled, thick arms wrapping around his neck, another, smaller pair of hands gagging him harshly. Listen to them Ceddy. Don't struggle. The voice actually sounded strained, worried. Like the protective mother of a young child. Cedric let an almost feral growl tear from his throat, thrashing wildly. Cedric! Stop! No, you're a liar, and they want to kill me! Don't forget about her, it snarled. He had nearly forgotten about Elwing. His thrashing and writhing became more desperate until something cold and thin pressed against the soft flesh of his neck. "I said; Quiet!" Cedric let his body go limp. What was the point if the punishment was death? He wouldn't be able to help Elwing. She was a mere woman, what could she possibly be capable of to escape these men?
Cedric, you have no idea. Now pay attention to them. "-have to" "-where?" "-There -she" "-Bind her!" I can't. I can't.. Stop whining! She's the only one who can save either of you right now. But.. she's a woman! Cedric, the voice warned. Cedric thrashed again, kicking blindly, smirking slightly as he heard a muffled thud. Well, brilliant. Here come the rest! He heard them. All their footsteps.. Now you're most likely dead. Their hushed voices filled the quiet, moving slowly through the snow like a weight-burdened man. Where was Nasic? He should be tearing their throats out by now. He left during the night. Don't act surprised. That horse lacks proper discipline. Cedric ignored it, grunting as a few men beat him to the ground, kicking him harshly in the side.

------------ Closing her eyes, she focused on getting back to sleep. It was one of the times where she actually felt safe when she was dreaming anyway. Though sometimes, her dreams could be nice. Drawing her legs up, as she used to in her bed if she was able to sleep alone, she heard a soft, worried nicker from Hevlena. Groaning quietly, she peeked out from her blanket and noticed the mare was still, though her muscles tense, ears flicking back and forth rapidly, eyes rolling wildly in their sockets. Once Elwing decided something had just spooked her, she moved her hand, and the fire grew brighter and more powerful, reassuring her that nothing would try and harm them from the nighttime air and darkness that surrounded them completely outside of the clearing. It was as if the clearing was a little safe house, as long as the fire glowed brightly.
Suddenly, when Hevlena's tree rustled, meaning she moved, Elwing bit her bottom lip, debating on whether or not to get up and just let the mare roam freely. As she started to get up, she heard voices. Immediately, the hybrid dropped back into the snow-coated ground, knowing the darkness and shadows would hopefully help hide her, "Oh no, please, please please don't let it be who I think it is." She prayed silently, just when a voice hissed in her ear, and she felt a knife to her throat, "Little 'Lwing, di' ya think that I'd let you go just so easily?" Chills darted down her spine, torches appeared from multiple other men in the clearing now, and she managed to see Cedric being bound and gagged by another pair of men. Arms suddenly swooped down on her, and a scream escaped her lips. Rope coiled tightly around her wrists, though as she thrashed her legs, she looked to see Master, the only one in the universe she never wanted to see again. Eyes wide with horror, she opened her mouth, but...nothing came out. Master sneered, she couldn't even call him by his name, she didn't know it, she only knew him by Master, what what he said was law. At least to her anyway, she squirmed, as a gag found her mouth, though she squeaked out, "Let him go."
Master's dark eyes went back to Cedric, the man as a few of his comrades kept him bound securely, "What did you tell him?" Her senses waking up now as she glanced to Hevlena, who was being held by a large man, "Nothing....Master." she whispered the last part, before looking to all the flames, eyes turning a slight red, orange as the clearing's air began to cool off. With the air temperature dropping, Elwing was hardly affected by it, but Hevlena and Cedric would be. Master sneered, and produced a vile, equipped with the poison she knew clouded her thoughts, therefore "disabling" her powers. "No..." she murmured, as the large man holding her up, her hands in front of her shook as she attempted to get free. The man holding her dropped her, and she stumbled, as Master had them bring Cedric closer to the fire.
Wide-eyed, Elwing demanded, "What are you going to do to him? He's innocent, Master, he knows nothing." Master approached him, and produced a knife, eying the man quietly, as if looking at a horse he might want to buy, "We could use him as a hand at the ranch...how would you like to work for me?" he asked Cedric, pulling his gag down just enough so he could respond, before pushing it back into his mouth. Kneeing him in the stomach, Elwing winced, before glancing down to her hands, the torches and fire still burning, but there was tons of water around, but they knew she could do that. She wanted to destroy them if possible. Looking to Cedric quietly, she spoke, hoping he'd hear as the rope around her wrists froze to solid ice, "Try and dodge as much as you can." she nodded solemnly, before a hand suddenly, or fist, collided with her side. Yelping, she dropped, the ice shattering, releasing her wrists. Clutching her side, definitely a broken rib or so, she looked to the perp, who had been the large man holding her. Losing her breah, Master peered at her, "Seems I'll have to break you, and him. This should be fun. Bind both of them, and drug her."
Elwing looked once more to Cedric, before suddenly, she jerked up her hands, Master lunged, "No!" But he was a second too late, all the torches the men had been wielding, sparked and burst into higher, large flames, burning their hands and most of their upper body. The flames dropped into the snow, instantly smothering them out, as the clearing got the only light by the firepit. A burly pair of arms wrapped around, her Elwing gasped, but clutched onto the arm, her hands smoking as a sizzling sound and the unmistakeable smell of burning flesh as the man holding her dropped her, growling. Master had an archer attempt and get her. Snow suddenly shot up from the ground and hardened, her arms moved up in a jerking motion as the snow caught the few arrows tipped with poison. Turning, she paused as she saw Master's knife to Cedric's throat. Looking to him silently, Master cooed, mockingly, "Just calm down nao, Elwing." his vowels off from his odd accent. The blonde suddenly lifted her left arm closest to the fire pit, and a torrent of fire crashed into Master, probably hitting Cedric too.

Cedric EretThe fight inside is breaking me again Still the same, pursuing pain Is it worth all I have gained? We both know how this will end, but I do it again.
"Let- -go" Cedric barely heard anyone, trying furiously to see clearly. He could already feel the bruises forming. I can't hear! Nothing....Master. She says. No... She says. the voice supplied, actually sounding confused for once. Cedric glared at everyone as they brought him closer to the fire, hands bound behind his back, still thrashing a bit before they stopped.
"What are you going to do to him? He's innocent, Master, he knows nothing." Cedric's head lifted slightly, hearing already improving. Why- I don't know why you went deaf Cedric. It's not like I'm a god. "We could use him as a hand at the ranch...how would you like to work for me?" Cedric sneered, glad at being free for at least a moment. "Release her and I'll make you a very, very powerful man." Useless Cedric. Useless promises. A loud rumble vibrated in his throat as soon as the cloth was shoved back in his mouth. "Mmf!" Cedric went limp in the arms of the men restraining him, struggling to get enough air through his nostrils.
"Try and dodge as much as you can." Cedric's brows raised as he lifted his head, confusion clouding his mind. Cedric, dear. Now would be the time to listen to the woman. He thrashed when they struck Elwing, shaking his whole form with all the strength he had, his captors loosing hold of him briefly before grabbing him once again. "Seems I'll have to break you, and him. This should be fun. Bind both of them, and drug her. Help! I can't. I'm only in your head Cedric. Only in your head. She's your only hope. Cedric's thrashing had earned him several more punches and kicks, missing whatever else had been going on.
"Just calm down now, Elwing." Cedric froze at feeling a knife at his throat. The second time in the past few minutes.. Pain, such pain seared across his flesh, terrified screams now allowed to be released as his gag had burnt, what was left, falling to the ground. Cedric fell to his knees, hands clenched in fists at his side, not daring to touch his side. He couldn't imagine how much worse it could get merely by brushing it with his fingertip. "Naneth," he moaned, hoofbeats thudding somewhere nearby. Nasic's back Cedric, the voice replied solemnly.

------------ The torrent died, and she heard a muffled scream from Cedric. Feeling as if it had pierced her eardrums, Elwing yelped and apologized, "Cedric, I'm sorry!" she spoke, just as a man tackled her to the ground. Inhaling sharply, she screamed and thrashed, as Hevlena whirled, panicking as well. Hearing hoofbeats, she hoped it was Nasic, Cedric's horse, as Master grabbed a poison-tipped arrow, sneering at Elwing as he pierced Cedric's burnt side with it. Wincing, Elwing shook her head, as she then slammed her hand on the ground, and a rock ripped itself from the ground, the size of a horse, and it hurled itself at the man above her. Paralyzed by fear for a moment, she looked as the poison would most likely get to Cedric, the same they used on her. Scrambling, the blonde collapsed onto Cedric, as Master watched her carefully, before snapping orders in a different language, one she'd learned as she grew up, "You fight a lot for an old lady." Master hissed, knowing her age of 120 always got to her. "My father always said you were stubborn." Wide-eyed, she narrowed them then though, not wanting Cedric to know how old exactly she was.
The hybrid then whispered to Cedric, her fear replaced by anger for this man and what he'd done to her over her life, and not only him, but his father as well, having passed her onto his son when this man had been about 20. "Cedric, trust me, I can help." she then raised both her hands, and the snow around the clearing vanished, as the fire in the pit gathered energy. Oxygen vanished from the surrounding air as it consumed it to stay alive. A major reason why she hated fire, but hearing him moan Naneth, an elven word she recognized, she looked to him with concern, before then the fire roared, burning everything and everyone it seemed. Hoping Nasic hadn't entered the clearing, she hoped Hevlena managed to at least stall his entrance to it. The fire exploded, an angry roar slammed into their eardrums, a whimper escaping her lips as the oxygen decreased immensely. As it died, the snow was all melted in the clearing, the grass still green though, the fire gone. Smoke began to clear, the arrow Master had pierced Cedric with still there, but no Master. No goons.
Relieved, Elwing collapsed, panting heavily, as she reached for a piece of clean wrapping she carried with her. Unwrapping it from her arm, she looked to Cedric, seeing the burn and the poisoned wound, "Easy, Cedric." Quietly, she produced a vile that wielded a green herbal supplement that would easy his burn pain, as well as the poison and wound. Giving him a leaf, she murmured, "This will help with the poison." She then gently brushed the burn, knowing it would hurt as the powder sprinkled onto his burn on his side. Pushing him down onto the opposite side, Elwing looked to him silently, uttering as she wrapped it gently, "I'm so sorry, Cedric, I'm so sorry." her heart went out to him, he'd been involved in something she'd been running from for years. That man, the son of the original man who had "branded" her, wanted to have his son, who was now about 18 sell her off to Battonia, Rhiannon or who-ever. Claiming they'd get wealth off her, as well as a weapon for their side. Wincing, Elwing bandaged his wound, and pulled away, quickly getting away in case he lashed out or Nasic did. "Here." she handed him some more herb leaves, "It will help ease the drug and pain."

Cedric EretThe fight inside is breaking me again Still the same, pursuing pain Is it worth all I have gained? We both know how this will end, but I do it again.
"Cedric, I'm sorry!" His head turned slowly to her, eyes wide. An arrow! An arrow! The voice screamed in terror, mourning her wounded son. Cedric, stay calm. Hit me. Burn there. Pain! Do not speak. Be quiet, and do whatever she says. "-old lady!" Cedric watched, muttering incoherently, swaying back, forth, and sideways. He had barely noticed the flying rock, his grey-blue eyes unfocoused as he sank back to his knees after standing. Ced- Listen- I- "N- Naneth?" He managed, the pain dying down slightly, but he could still feel the horrid burning. Cedric's fingerips ran over the damaged skin, crying out as his fingernail scraped at it. Cedric! Why are you so quiet? Ced- where- you- The voice quickly died away, not surfacing again. Why couldn't he hear it? The voice.. the voice he always claimed to hate, but had grown used to its constant nagging and worry? Now, Cedric felt alone again.
"Cedric, trust me, I can help." His eyes moved slowly to Elwing's form. "Not. Not Naneth," his voice was tired, and full of despair. His wound was not causing his confusion. He was used to pain, but this quietess- this silence in his mind utterly stunned him, and it wasn't a good thing. "This will help with the poison." Cedric shuddered, breathing shakily from the shock of lonliness and pain. "Thank you, Elle." His tongue and lips had worked hard to push the words out, muscles relaxing as the pain subsided. "I'm so sorry, Cedric, I'm so sorry." He grimaced, shifting himself to move away from her more as she did. "It's fine. I'm used to being injured. Soldier, remember?" He forced a small smile, muffled hoofbeats sounding behind him.
Nasic lowered his head towards his master, snorting unhappily. Cedric ran his hand along the black, silken coat before the stallion snorted, lifting his head up, as if keeping watch. Wonder where Nasic went.. He sat in silence, awaiting the insults that were sure to come. Frowning heavily at the emptyness, he pressed his hands into his face roughly, wincing at the dull, throbbing pain in his side. Naneth? He called, just to be sure he was truly alone. The silence answered him, a wide grin spreading along the length of his lips like wildfire. Cedric laughed quietly, hands falling away from his face. "Thank you," he said, barely able to keep his laughter at bay. She would probably see him as.. a tad crazy, but to Cedric, he was sane again, and free! As long as the voice didn't come back..
