Alize On a dusty road, which ran through the forest and through a village, a girl stood looking around her with not much hope. Her dress, long and deep in color, was dusted with who knows what, from her travels. She managed to hitch a ride to this unknown place from a farmer who had passed her on her journey and kindly offered her a lift. She had waved him off, and then, her small bag made of cotton which held her possessions, small in number, was slung over her shoulder. She looked around and sighed. No-one had appeared since she had arrived and the village seemed dead. Alize, as she was known, stepped lightly across the road to the side. She walked around and viewed the sights. A few thatched cottages, and then ruins. Alize stepped towards one ruin in particular. It had a wall, which was still as high as the day it was built, which then dipped and dropped to the ground and continued round at the same hight till it reached a gap. Most likely where the door used to stand. Alize imagined it. A large wooden door, surrounded by the old stone which cluttered the site and made the ruin seem more like a jigsaw puzzle. Alize walked through the gap, and she dropped her bag and sat on the wall, feeling it's cold stone under her hands.

Arlenwa walked, singing a slow, sad, Elven song. Her large bay stallion snorted, tossing his head, hooves creating muffled thumps and ticks as they hit small stones. The Elf maiden's blue dress was hidden by a long black cloak, the hood hanging down on her back. She wouldn't need to be hidden. There was nothing to fear from the people here. They didn't hate her people.. At least, most of them didn't. "Ne chaered hen nu ‘aladhath... Ngilith or annún-aearath." The last of the notes echoed quietly in the forest like the whisper of a ghost.
The Elf stopped, as did the stallion she was leading. She turned her head, kind blue eyes restingon the figure of a young human woman. She approached quietly, not bothering to let her know she was there. "Hello." The words fell past her smiling lips. Sakar snorted, brushing his muzzle along his Elf's back. Arlenwa reached back, stroking the soft muzzle of the animal, wondering what could have brought this woman here. Perhaps her home had been destroyed? Maybe she was nobility? She probably lived here.. The Elf's thoughts drifted through her mind, not distracting her too much. "What brings you here?" She spoke slowly, studying her. Breathing deeply, she imagined what the ruins looked like before they had.. well, become ruins. She could remember.. It wasn't so long ago that these buildings stood. To humans maybe, but the Elves; it seemed that a week had hardly passed by since their destruction.

Alize heard steps on the cobbles of the road, yet didn't feel the need to turn and stare. She felt at peace in the ruins. She fondled the stone upon which she was settled and she closed her eyes. She heard a voice say, "Hello" and then the same voice echoed, "What brings you here?" Alize thought the voice wasn't real, till she turned and saw an elf. She jumped up and grabbed her bag. "I'm sorry. If these are your ruins, I'll leave. I'm so, so sorry. I was only admiring them." she said, her voice troubled and plagued. She took a deep breath and saw the stallion, a large bay brute with a slender body. Alize was drawn by him. She stepped forward and stopped. She remembered the elves question and stepped a small step back. "I'm lost. Sort of. I'm running away from my father, and a farmer took me here." If only she knew where here was.

The lady watched in amusement as the human jumped, grabbing her pack as she did so. "I'm sorry. If these are your ruins, I'll leave. I'm so, so sorry. I was only admiring them." Arlenwa smiled, "No, they don't belong to me." Her eyes lifted from the woman to the ruins, admiring their forlorn beauty. A beauty the whole world of Ander seemed to possess now. A sad one. "They're interesting though aren't they?"
"I'm lost. Sort of. I'm running away from my father, and a farmer took me here." Lost? Running from her father..? Arlenwa wanted to look into her past, to see what troubled her, and maybe- maybe she could help. The Elf decided agasint it, letting the woman keep her secrets. "Running from your father?" A puzzled expression passed across her face, soon turning to calm. "Are you trying to head somewhere specific? Perhaps I can help you." Arlenwa didn't smile, just stood, Sakar nosing the ground, and waited for her to speak again.

Alize nodded as the elven women marvelled at the ruins. She turned and stared, pulling a full 360 whilst staring in wonder at the walls, and returning to watch her, with cautious and alert eyes. She listened again to her and shrugged, scuffing her feet on the ground. Yes, my father. He was...pushing me somewhere I didn't want to go. I have no idea where I am heading, so I'm afraid you can't help me. Even if the elf could help, Alize would decline. She couldn't trust anyone after what had happened. She sighed and sat back down, this time on a rock that faced the elf, so she could read her face. She smiled sweetly and the smile faded slowly.

"Yes, my father. He was...pushing me somewhere I didn't want to go. I have no idea where I am heading, so I'm afraid you can't help me" The elf frowned slightly, but nodded. "I understand." She wouldn't press her to accept her help. Arlenwa understood what it was like to have someone try and force you to let them help you not matter how many times you tried to say no to them.
"Would like a map at least?" Okay, maybe she was actually pressing her help on her a little bit, but she couldn't help it. How could she leave her alone without knowing where she was? Then again, she could always ask someone where she was and for directions, but that could always get you into trouble somehow in certain cities and villages. "And do you have any means of protection?" She bit her lower lip for a moment, and shifted, Sakar nosing the ground beside her.

Alize shrugged. She would like the map, yet the protection part? She did a sort of roll with her eyes and took her eyes to the horse again. A map would be very helpful, thank you. Yet I have no protection and I see no need for it. This place seems very quiet and I presume it to be like this all over. she said, although she kept a dagger in her bag. She didn't want the elf to take over, she'd had enough of that. Alize took a sharp intake of breath, and smiled at the horse. She could do with one of them, she thought with a twinkle in her eye. She stood up of the rock and shook herself clean, picked up her bag again and eyed the walls of the ruin again.

"A map would be very helpful, thank you. Yet I have no protection and I see no need for it. This place seems very quiet and I presume it to be like this all over." Arlenwa shook her head slowly. "No, I'm afraid it's not as peaceful as it seems." The elf felt the hilt of her sword, the intricate designs tickling her fingertips. "There are spies and assassins of the enemy almost everywhere. Just a few miles back I was attacked. I imagine I am being followed.." Arlenwa's expression turned to slight annoyance and regret instantly at the thought. She had led the danger straight to a human she was trying to help. Even if she didn't want it.
Sakar looked up at the human, snorting, brown eyes flickering with interest for a moment, but he pushed his soft muzzle into his elf's back again. "Man carel le?" (What are you doing) "I Anor hílol" (The sun is shining) She turned, patting his powerful neck. "Be calm." Arlenwa pulled a map out of one of the saddle bags. "Here," she spoke quietly, holding the map out towards her.

Alize cautiously raised her hand and took the map. She looked round, and saw no-one. She stepped forward and held the map at her side. She spoke, in whispered tones, What was that? The language you spoke? Her curiousity got the better of her. She stepped back and looked at the map, with eager eyes. She folded it up and placed it in her own bag. She noticed the elf had fondled the hilt of her sword. She quickly checked her bag, after placing the map neatly inside, that the dagger was still there, folded up like it should be. She sighed a content sigh and closed up the bag. Where are you travelling to? she asked, with curious tones again. She was always the nosy.

"What was that? The language you spoke?" She had really never heard Elvish before? Well, it made sense. She had probably never met many or any elves and probably never lived by any. "It is Elvish. The language of my people." Arlenwa ran a few lines of Elvish through her head, enjoying the sound. "Where are you travelling to? " The elf shrugged, letting her arm fall to her side as she took the map from her hands. "I am wandering at the moment. Im rana." (I am wanderer. but in this context, I am a wanderer) She smiled at the elvish. "Is that what you are doing?"

Alize sighed and nodded, silly her. The women was elfish, of course the language would be elfish as well. She shrugged lightly. I'm guessing 'Rana' means traveler or wanderer. she said, politely. Then, when the elf asked of her excuse for travelling, her tone went shy and confused. I...er...don't really know. I am running really. Like I said. Running from the past was harder than it looks. It took skill and nerve and you had to keep looking over your shoulder to make sure you didn't recognise anyone. Alize bit her bottom lip and felt the reassuring pain that always ran to the surface. She took a deep breath, to subside the pain, and then she sighed again.

"I'm guessing 'Rana' means traveler or wanderer." The elf nodded, smiling slightly. "I...er...don't really know. I am running really. Like I said." Oh yes, that was right. She had forgotten she had already asked her something like that. Oh well.
Arlenwa noticed a sadness rising in her, and frowned. She hadn't meant to upset the girl.. She was about to ask if she was alright when Sakar whinnied loudly behind her, rearing, kicking out with his front legs. When he landed, he stepped nervously side to side, snorting and nickering anxiously. "Man le trasta, Sakar? Man cenich?" The elf turned to face her unruly friend, and with wide eyes she heard the hoofbeats headed towards them. "I think it's best we hide now.." She looked to to her, and nodded to the ruins. "Come." Arlenwa stepped behind the walls of a larger ruined building, Sakar galloping off somewhere nearby in the forest.

Alize watched the elf, turn and turn in anxiety. She heard the horse whinny and rear and stomp and she realized the horse was warning them. She turned herself and stared at the surroundings. She heard the elf speak and then the horse galloped away, making Alize jump. She realized suddenly she was standing alone. She eyed around her cautiously and ran the way the elf had gone. She ducked down and held her breath, closed her eyes and grasped the wall to make her feel safe. She felt like crying, if it was her past. She opened her eyes and looked at the elf. What is it?

"What is it?" Arlenwa turned her head to meet her eyes. "I am being tracked." Her breathing remained calm as she pulled a dagger out from somewhere in the depths of her ebony cloak. "Shh." The elf warned her, peering through a crack in a ruined stone wall. There were six men, three leading horses, one riding a grey horse in front, and another was bound and blindfolded, being led by one of the three men. "Slave traders. Taking people to Battonia to enslave them." Arlenwa kept her voice low, and without warning, began climbing a slightly damaged outpost tower hidden by the ruined wall.
Taking careful aim she drew her hand back, throwing the dagger into the 'leader's' neck. He screamed in agony, falling sideways off his horse. The other three stopped, pushing their captive to the ground roughly. "Come out now!" The other two went over to their leader, finding him lifeless. Arlenwa took her bow, putting arrows into the three remaining men. Smirking triumphantly she dropped down from the tower. "Are you alright?" The elf looked at the female calmly, her bow strapped over her back now.
Arlenwa walked over to the captive who was desprately trying to get up despite being bound. The elf first pulled off his blindfold, unsmiling. "Im Arlenwa. Telin le thaed." (My name is Arlenwa. I've come to help you) Now, it was extremely likely he had no idea what she was saying, but her voice calmed him anyway. He mumbled a thank you as she unbound his hands. The man stood, and Sakar trotted over to the ruins, standing next to his elf.

Alize didn't want to watch the elf strike down those men, even if they had done wrong. She shut her eyes and just listened, the shouting and groaning, then the elvish voice asking in her direction if she was ok. She nodded, with a queezy feeling in her stomich. She opened her eyes slowly, as the elf passed her to get to the captive. Alize stood slowly and wobbled out as the horse came also. She eyed the captive man with cautious eyes. Then, eyed the scene lain before them. She noticed the leaders horse had trotted to the side of the road, and she walked closer to it. The horse turned it's head towards her and she ran her hand down the horses nose. She looked round at the elf and smiled. Then smiled at the captive. I'm Alize. Nice to meet you, considering the circumstances.
